Another Lilas Cardi on its way and I teach beginners again

by Danielle | May 28, 2010

Last night was “Stitch in Space” and I saw another Lilas Cardigan on its way to completion as part of our knitalong. Younah is working on her raglan increases, reaching the point of taking off the sleeves and working on the body of the sweater.

She also discovered the new Mad Tosh Sock colors and may have ended up going home with a few.

Which then inspired me to find a couple of colors to put together for a pair of fair isle mittens. I have no need starting another fair isle mitten project. Some of you remember the red and green ones that I taught several years ago and never finished…So these are the ones currently haunting me:

The pattern is Deep in the Forest Mittens and I am plotting what Mad Tosh sock will become this pair of mittens. If I have a class deadline, they might get finished. I think it will be a class this fall and the designer was nice enough to give me permission to use the pattern!  If I don’t teach this as a class (and put this pressure on me to finish), they will just take up perfectly useful needles and sit in my house somewhere..speaking of which, I wonder if that is where all of my US#3 needles are…hmm…

I am currently getting ready for a private party at the shop – a bridal shower this afternoon. I set the classroom up with little martini glasses of yarn and needles.

I am kinda excited to teach beginners again. I can’t remember the last time I taught a beginner knitting class. I should probably get back to doing that. I feel so out of touch with the newer knitters!

The Deep in the Forest mittens????????????????? I always consider myself “mittened out” – with my many grandchildren, but that would be nice for a pool project, as my apartment complex pool opens tomorrow and is open evenings until 9:00. Once you’re at the pool with your knitting – you can’t escape it. I would take that class! I think I would need the support of others. Once I got past the boring part of the knitalong cardigan it went back to being a fun project again, now I’m very driven to finish it.

Oooh, great mittens, a class would be tempting. I need to learn fair isle under a watchful eye.

You could count me in for a Deep in the Forest mitten class — this Fall?
