About this club

Each package will contain yarn, a matching accessory knitting pattern, and creative gift wrapping ideas – all focused on helping you create unique and colorful gifts for a special person in your life. There are two packages for women, one for man and one for baby. The patterns are accessories (as in items that will warm your loved ones head, hands and neck). The yarn gauges vary from fine to chunky weights, and you will receive exclusive some colorways and yarns. You have two color options: cools or warms (see below). The first package heads to you on September 10th and the last on December 10th. The club will also feature monthly meet ups.

Color Options

The club offers you two color options: cools or warms. While the photos below are examples of warm and cool colors, other shades in these color families will be found in this club. Violet, for example, is a color that may show up in either a warm or cool club package. While warm and cool colors seem easily defined, many of the colors from Neighborhood Fiber Co. involve layering of multiple colors. So, a warm color layered with a cool color may produce a new color that might be considered warm or cool. Karida will do her best to determine which colors really “pop” in a particular colorway and classify accordingly. However, since every eye perceives color differently, you may discover a pleasant surprise in your package.

The fine print – what you can expect

You will receive four total packages containing:  a new, previously unpublished accessory pattern by an independent pattern designer, yarn to make the project and a unique gift packaging idea from the yarnistas here at the shop. Of the four packages that you will receive, two will include brand new base yarns, and two packages will include brand new colorways. The fibres will be entirely animal fibre or animal fibre blends.

The four club shipments/packages will be available at the fibre space™ shop no later than the 10th of September, October, November and December of 2012. If you select delivery to your home, the package will be shipped by the 8th via the US Postal service. If you selected pick up from the shop, you may do so 2 business days after the yarn has been shipped out to other members.

Club Meet Ups

With your club membership you also get club meetings! This club will have a monthly knitalong at fibre space™ on the second Wednesday of each month from 7-9 pm, starting in September and ending in December. The meet ups will feature lots of knitting help and encouragement to keep you on track for finishing your holiday gifts. Danielle will be knitting along with the club, and the fibre space™ yarnistas are, as always, ready with help and advice. By working along with your fellow fibre space™ knitters, you can set a monthly goal to complete the project from that month and encourage each other along the way. If you don’t live nearby, no worries! We will be sure to have a forum on Ravelry for you to chat on, and we will post photos and advice for each project.
Signed up? Be sure to stop by the shop to get your Space Explorers card stamped for the club!!

**Space is limited to 100 spots.

Could you give an example of what the accessories might be? and Do we have to select man or woman for all the projects?

I also would like to know the type of accessories, for instance I do not like knitting socks, so would not find value in that project. Thanks!

No socks! The projects are neck, head and hand warming devices ;)
There is one baby project, one project for a man, and two projects for women. The yarn is also enough quantity to do a variety of other things with, so we can always make recommendations if you don’t want to use the pattern that we enclose.

Also, the man project is unisex. I’ve seen some of the sketches from the designers, and I’m super excited about this club!

We are not commissioning crochet designs, due to the cost in hiring two designers each month. Certainly, we will have crochet project ideas for each kit but not new designs.

Silly question, what if I can crochet but not knit. It is possible to come along and join the monthly meet-ups and learn or would it be too difficult?

If you get basic knitting skills, we can help with most of the projects. But learning to knit AND learning to inc, dec, cable and work fair isle would be a lot at just monthly meet ups. I would recommend working crochet alternatives each month or taking an intro knitting class…

So… I know how to knit, purl, k2tog, kf&b, m1, and yo. I can do ssk but I’m awful at it and always drop stitches. I’ve knitted several scarves, one hat, Sundry, and I’m working on a triangle scarf for Ravellenics. I don’t know how to cable or do fair isle. Are those things something I can learn at monthly meetups? Also, when is the registration deadline? Is this something that will sell out?

I dont know if there will be cabling for sure. You have the basics for lace. If you can knit in the round on dpns, all you will need is fair isle, and we can get you going on that during meet ups, for sure!

This seems like a great idea, however, I only know basic crochet is this something that I can do or are these just for knitting?

I am recently obsessed with crochet, so we’ll be sure to make some cool recommendations. And my crochet is also very basic, so don’t worry that it will be anything complex!
