Welcome to week four of our fall knitalong! This week there’s been some really great progress in the shop and online.
Anyone else get hooked on seeing their progress in stripes? As a fan of colorwork, I find it so encouraging to see a pattern take shape row by row. For some reason, it’s more satisfying to work through a stripe pattern or colorwork chart than inches of a textured stitch. Texture is lovely, but colorwork is fun. This sweater is no exception.
This week, Kim split her sleeves and launched into the body stripes. She’s added a contrast stripe right at the top with the awesomely vivid Dragon’s Flight.
I’m almost done with the body of the sweater. I added two contrast stripes with Hazel Knits Entice MCN in Zest. The yarn is a little heavier than the Northumbria, but that orange is a game changer.
Trudy’s finished the body of her sweater. She ended up using both pink options, working the hot pink from Skein as a single row inside two of her stripes.
Have you made it to the bottom of the body? There are more German short rows! You get the shirt tail hem by working about an inch of short rows in the front and back, and then it’s time for a simple rolled edge just like the neck. It’s so clean and delightful.
We hope you’re enjoying this project as much as we are. Keep sharing your experiences, and remember, complete the sweater by November 13 and be entered to win free yarn! Happy stitching!
