We just got in more books to add to our growing collection. I am super excited about these ones in particular:

100 Afghan Squares to Knit – you may remember the baby blanket that I made for my brother’s new one. The pattern was from this book, which is now out of print. We were lucky enough to snag ten copies!

Custom Knits – Wendy Bernard’s newest book. It is AWESOME! Great top down sweater projects. It is full of patterns that I want to knit. I believe Cameronne and I fought over the last copy at Borders last year when it first came out. We have 5 copies!

Natural Knits for Babies and Toddlers – by Tina Barrett and full of cute baby garments. It has both premie sizes and toddler sizes.

Just in this week is gorgeous, cashmere-soft 100% yak down yarn from Shokay. Shokay yak down derives its unique origins from the mountainous Himalayan regions of Western China. The fibres are hand-combed from the yaks that dwell there, whose ancient existences continue to serve as a life source for the Tibetan herders. We are excited to bring you this special luxury fibre not only because it is beautiful and toasty warm, but because Shokay is committed to helping Tibetan herders earn a traditional living.

You might remember Shokay Shambala being used in Jared Flood’s very popular Koolhaas hat a few years back, but the company also has great free pattern support on their website. In many cases, just one skein can make a uniquely beautiful gift.

New spray-dyed colors in Jawoll

Each month, the nice UPS man brings us a new box of Jawoll self-patterning sock yarn in different colors. This month, the yarns are all spray-dyed, giving them a cool tonal look. It’s always a surprise when we open the box!

We just got a new shipment of Crystal Palace Mochi Plus and Mini Mochi as well as Cotton Chenille in bright colors and pastels for baby projects. I am finishing up a pair of socks in the Mini Mochi. They are super snuggly!

We recently got two of the Lucinda Guy children’s pattern books: Handknits for Kids and Kids Learn to Knit. Lucinda’s patterns are colorful, fun and unique.

The Handknits for Kids pattern features this adorable dog, which came to visit us over the weekend, in honor of the Dog Days of Summer event. This little guy was made with Stonehedge Fiber Shepherd’s Wool. My little nephew is in town visiting, and he just might need the little dinosaur sweater from the same book. The Kids Learn to Knit book is a magically illustrated instructional book for children that will have them knitting in no time.  In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if a few adults wouldn’t find it a bit helpful as well!

There is nothing more fabulous than seeing color and texture that is so irresistible that it inspires even me to start a new project. Last night our Hanah Silk Ribbon and Satin Ribbons arrived. Three or four of us at Stitch in Space last night decided to start knitting this Leigh Radford project with the Imperial Stock Ranch pencil roving.

I think I have to reorder it already! I have narrowed my color selection down to Mango Icecream and California Poppy to pair with this nice vintage brown shade of pencil roving. What do you think?

Today our special limited edition colorways of Lang Jawoll AKTION sock yarn arrived. Each month they release only a handful of patterning colorways for the month. Once they are sold out, they are gone forever! We have these five colorways right now and when they are gone, they are gone. Each skein comes with coordinating reinforcement thread for the heels and toes and 1 skein makes a pair of socks. Most exciting – they have “guy” colors!

Miss Babs was kind enough to send us some yarn from Sock Summit! So if you didn’t make it out to Sock Summit, we have brought it to you. The box arrived this morning. What a surprise, since we almost never get new smooshy yarn on Saturdays. Look at this amazing pile of color… Veronica and I are fighting over the Yowza hanks of Coventry. hmm…what shall I make with that…
