Stitch in Space

Join us every Thursday to “stitch in space.” Knit or crochet in our lounge from 5pm to 9pm with other members of the fibre space community.

Our knit doctor is also on site at this time to help you with your knit and crochet questions.

We will, from time to time, even feature a certain project, technique or charity!

We have also added a second Stitch in Space day: Fridays, noon – 2 p.m.

Our Local Crafting Community

ory_web

Veronica Ory, professional sample knitter for designers like Kristen Rengren, Michael Del Vecchio and Melissa Leapman, is now offering finishing services for area knitters who want an extra special finishing service. She offers garment assembly, grafting, button bands, blocking, setting of zippers and weaving in ends. Find out more about her services by contacting her via email.

Potomac Bead Company

Just around the corner from fibre space, this bead shop features thousands of square feet of gemstone and glass beads as well as supplies and classes.

Knit Happens

This yarn shop features some of the “big dogs” in the yarn industry, such as Debbie Bliss and Rowan.

Bead Obsessions

Bead Obsessions stocks the largest selection in the area of beads suitable for knitting, and they have a knitting group that meets the third Friday evening of the month!

Historic Old Town

Old Town Alexandria is a historic and unique district, one that we are super excited to be part of! We love our neighbors and hope that you will too. Check out these amazing shops while you are in town:

Bellacara

This cosmetic boutique has wonderful prices on some hard to find products like Kiehl’s, Sue Devitt, Bliss and Fresh.

Ten Thousand Villages

Fair trade jewelry, home good and gifts. This shop has finds from all over the world and you can feel good about every product you buy in there.

Vermillion

Home of the amazing King Street Lemonade! The yarnistas here love their happy hour in the lounge. Picture pillows, swank red velvet, some knitting and a refreshing cocktail.

Eamonns Dublin Chipper

Shamefully, we eat here more than we really should. But really, how much damage can a paper bag of deep friend fish and chips do?

Lavender Moon Cupcakery (116 S Royal St)

Imagine a buttermilk cupcake stuffed with Mexican chocolate pudding and then topped with light and creamy chocolate icing…yumm! Other shop favorite is the vanilla bean iced cupcake filled with lemon curd. Really, these aren’t just your average cupcake.  Get there early, they close when the cupcakes are gone!

La Fromagerie

Just around the corner, this small shop is a true gem of fresh artesan cheeses, cured meats and local dairy products. Our fridge is always stocked with a chevre and a bottle of Virginia milk for our coffee.

B&W Art, Antiques & Jewelry

We are dangerously close to this shop (just two doors down on Fayette!) They have the most amazing collection of vintage jewelry I have ever seen. Need something pink to go with a navy suit? She has entire cabinets of jewelry BY COLOR! A retro girl’s dream.

Elegance Fashion Boutique

This amazing custom dress shop made my one of a kind wedding dress. Everything is made just for you and the service and prices are top notch.

Del Ray

fibre space really got its start in Del Ray and despite our location in the King Street district, we still love our friends in Del Ray.

St. Elmo’s

I owe a great deal to Nora, owner of St. Elmo’s, as she really supported my business idea and agreed to host the Knit-a-Gogo classes at her space for years.  This shop is really a community center for Del Ray, hosting local artists and musicians, charity and community groups and a knitting group!

ACKC

The guys over at ACKC whip up some pretty special chocolate based drinks (oh, and they have truffles..and I don’t mean the mushroomy kind).

A Show of Hands

Maria and Pat have a wonderful eye for the most special hand made items. This store features local artists and crafters and should be the first place you go looking for gifts (well, that is, after you decide not to knit them yourself!)

Cheesetique

Gourmet cheese and wine bar! (you heard me, WINE BAR)

Del Merei Grille

Mary and the Del Merei staff will take you deep into the South with their amazing comfort foods.
