Lace in Space – Sunday, August 29, 3-5 pm

It is hot in August, so cool off with some lace! Join us to test out several amazing lace yarns and look through the lace pattern options that are hot right now. Registration will open the first week of August.

Get ready for our jam packed line up of designers and artists! The fibre space fall event series has something for everyone. Learn to design your own sweater with Shirley Paden or Stefanie Japel or spend the day with Miss Babs discussing color or with our very own Rosemary, making your own yarn! We have Kirsten Kapur teaching us how to design our own triangular shawl and Molly Miller showing us how to use hand spun yarns for creative gift giving. Registration will open the first week of August.

Brave New Knits: 26 Projects and Personalities from the Knitting Blogosphere

Come out and meet the author of this brand new and amazing book – Julie Turjoman. Brave New Knits is the first book to celebrate the relationship between the traditional hand craft of knitting and the online knitters’ community. The book features some of the blog world’s most amazing designers: Jared Flood, Stefanie Japel, Ysolda Teague, Melissa Wehrle, Norah Gaughan, Chrissy Gardiner and Shannon Okey….to name a few.

The Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef Project is a collaborative fiber art exhibition that seeks to raise awareness of the condition of our ocean’s coral reefs through handicraft. As part of the exhibition, we have the opportunity to build a “satellite reef” that will be exhibited with the Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef at the Sant Ocean Hall in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Events and workshops are one of the unique features of our shop. We present regular themed “yarn tastings” which allow each participant to try out several different fibres while enjoying a food and drink pairing. These tastings are educational, providing detailed information about the construction and fibre content of each yarn, as well as project ideas. Each participant can purchase the "tasted" yarn at a discount.

fibre space™ puts together some of the area’s most unique workshops and retreats, featuring well-known designers, creative venues and exciting topics. We have hosted Wendy Johnson, Jared Flood and Stephanie Japel at unique venues around our area.

Join us every Thursday from 5pm to 9pm or Friday afternoon from noon to 2pm to "stitch in space." Knit or crochet in our lounge with other members of the fibre space community. Our knit doctor is also on site at this time to help you with your knit and crochet questions. We will, from time to time, even feature a certain project, technique or charity!

Stitch in Space on the third Thursday of each month is dedicated to new stitchers - join us for encouragement, help and lots of meeting and greeting!

The first Sunday of every month is our "Men Knit & Crochet" meet up. Join other male stitchers from 4-6 pm. The shop will extend its hours on this day!

The second Sunday of every month from 11 am - 1 pm is our "Sit & Stitch for Charity" event. Bring a charity project or use donated yarn to start a new one.
