Materials
- Three 25g skeins of Shetland wool in either fingering weight (2-ply) or dk weight (3-ply). Choose one dark, one medium and one light color (ex: an 8-9, 4-5, and 1-2 on the value scale) – choose colors you would like to combine together within a garment, or color combinations you’d like to experiment with that you may not pick for a full-blown project.
- One set of double pointed needles or one circular needle (any cord length is fine) in sizes US 2 or 3 for fingering weight wool; sizes 5 or 6 for dk weight wool.
- Small crochet hook (size comparable to knitting needle size you will be using)
- Small pair of sewing scissors (for steeking)
- Notebook and writing utensil for note taking
We will be working colorwork swatches to practice stranding technique, steeking, and faux in-the-round swatching on a flat fabric.
Homework
Come prepared to knit a large stranded swatch with needles and yarn listed above. No other
